"HILDEGARD PROJEKT: HAUTE SCULPTURE", Vžigalica Gallery, Ljubljana,
Slowenien 2014

"In one room, there is just a projection of a picture of eleven empty chairs and in the corner of the last room artworks are crammed as if they were stored in a depot. It is not clear if the result was the intention of the artists from the beginning or the conceptual nature of the exhibition is the outcome of some kind of a complication, which can happen when working in a group. But this is not actually important. Works, packed in the last room, are very meaningful. On one hand the physical material gives the alibi to the conceptually strong statement in other, almost empty, spaces. The artworks itself are the most abstract part of the exhibition. By itself they are just requisites, which indirectly give meaning and value to the biographies of the artists, who struggle from project to project. Projects, which have a practical value just because they enable the following projects."

Artist Statement
HILDEGARD PROJEKT: HAUTE SCULPTURE

After the presentation of individual art works in the week before the exhibition opening, we started to get acquainted with the Hildegard Projekt. Through the conversation we operated with ideas such as outside – inside, public – personal, high – low art.

In the past projects, made by Hildegard Projekt, the result was assemblage, collage or installation, compiled from several art works created by invited artists. With this project we decided to decline this past practice of object assemblation and decided to present a project in the form of an audio file, which is a documentation of the happening during the four days, when artists worked together on the project, and a project room with the illustration of our meetings and individual works of art.

Our opinion is that in art the materialization is not necessary for art work to exist.
